Program Goal
The goal of ISAHC Practical Nursing program is to educate students who will provide for the health and well-being of individuals, families, and diverse populations in the community at large and become contributing members of the healthcare team, proudly representing the profession of nursing.
Practical Nursing graduates are skilled in delivering basic nursing care to patients of all ages. After passing the NCLEX-PN (National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses), they become licensed practical nurses (LPNs).

Program Length and Schedule
Day classes
The Practical Nursing program runs full-time from January to October, with classes held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Evening/weekend classes
Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The part-time program runs from January to November.
Program length
The Practical Nursing Program offers a shorter time commitment and reduced financial costs compared to traditional college programs. The day program can be completed in just 10 months, while the evening/weekend program takes 11 months. The curriculum consists of 1,128 instructional hours, divided between classroom, lab, and clinical training.
ADMISSION POLICY AND REQUIREMENTS
ISAHC maintains an open-door admissions policy for all applicants. The school serves students regardless of race, creed, sex, national origin, age, or physical handicap. Selective placement of individual students in the Practical Nursing program of study within this institution is determined by the director of the program and or the nursing team, within the guidelines established by the New York State Department of Education Office of the Professions.
Individuals who are 17 years of age must have the signature of a parent or guardian and cancellations must be made in writing by a parent or guardian. This means that a parent or guardian of a minor must be present at the time of enrollment, read, and sign the student’s enrollment agreement. Please be aware that licensure and employment requirements may include a criminal background check.
A high school transcript demonstrating a GPA and required courses with a grade of 75 or better, including English, Biology, Chemistry, and Math. A GED will be accepted. Candidates must achieve at least a Proficient level on the ATI TEAS pre-admission testing demonstrating proficiency in Reading, Math, Science and English. The following scores are around the national average and are classified by ATI ( Assessment Technologies Institute) as “Proficient.” The TEAS test is designed to evaluate a student's readiness for entry into health science programs. Candidates need to register, pay and schedule on-line with ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute®).

TEAS Exam Registration & Dates
Students must register for the TEAS exam through ATItesting.com where you will also find available test dates. Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email from ATI.

OTHER ADMISSIONS CONSIDERATION
The admissions committee will utilize a rubric and evaluate each candidate individually. Candidates may repeat the TEAS tests no more than 2 times in a year. High school grades below minimum may be reevaluated depending on the TEAS test results. Exemplary graduates of Ideal School's existing programs may receive additional consideration if high school grades are below minimum.
REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for admission to the Practical Nursing program, applicants must be able to read, write in English, must complete and submit the following items:
- A score of 58.7% or higher on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). We will accept test results taken within the past year. Scores and transcripts must be submitted directly by ATI.
- Complete Practical Nursing program application-application fee is non-refundable
- Submit high school diploma or official transcript, GED or equivalent with scores. Foreign diploma and transcript must be translated into English and evaluated by an approved organization
- 2 original character letters of reference ( not by family member) to be submitted prior to interview
- Proof of certificate of completion in other programs such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Home Health Aide, Medical assistant, along with a letter from an employer verifying patient care experience
- Non-expired government ID
- Interview by the nursing faculty or designee
After submitting the required documents and completing the evaluation process, applicants will be scheduled for an admission interview. All applicants will be notified of the decision by mail. Please note that this is a highly competitive program, and acceptance is not guaranteed.
Upon acceptance, students must submit a completed physical exam, drug test results, and a criminal background check, as well as attend the mandatory orientation before classes begin. Failure to meet these requirements or attend the orientation will result in removal from the program, with no exceptions.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
CPR certification must be completed before beginning any clinical assignments. Failure to obtain CPR certification will result in a delay of your clinical rotation.
STUDENT HEALTH REQUIREMENTS
All ISAHC students enrolled in the Practical Nursing program are required to submit a Physical Exam and Health History form. NYS Department of Health Title 10 Rules and Regulation Section 405.3-10 states: The examination shall be of sufficient scope to ensure that no person shall assume his/her duties unless he/she is free from a health impairment which is of potential risk to the patient or which might interfere with the performance of his/her duties, including the habituation or addiction to depressants, stimulants, narcotics, alcohol or other drugs or substances which may alter the individual's behavior.
ISAHC has partnered with CastleBranch for tracking compliance with the student health and clinical requirements. Once admitted to the school, students will receive a package code to log into their CastleBranch account at myCB-Home. The required forms, to be filled out by your healthcare provider, is available on the school website along with notice of any fees that are not included with tuition (background check). Immunization documentation that you submitted to other schools is NOT automatically sent to Ideal School of Allied Health Care. You MUST request a copy of your immunization record from your previous school or your physician. All documents must contain an original stamp. (Photocopies of the stamp will not be accepted.) If you are not vaccinated due to NYS Department of Health accepted medical or religious exemptions, you must provide valid documentation. Please upload all documentation to your CastleBranch account prior to the start of classes. Please note that some clinical site agencies may have more stringent requirements. You will be notified of any additional requirements prior to the start of clinical assignments.
